What is The Menagerie?
The Menagerie is a new private play party in Brighton dedicated to fostering an inclusive and judgement-free environment for all guests, with a particular focus on women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The concept is simple: bring together a carefully vetted group of sexually open and curious people to an elegant venue in central Brighton to connect both socially and sexually. The guest list is capped at 65 people.
The Menagerie prioritises connection, pleasure, and safety. It is not a sex club â itâs an intimate event for people who want to explore giving and receiving pleasure.
Weâve chosen the name Menagerie to represent a haven for unique and diverse individuals to connect with one another. We welcome and celebrate a wide range of kinks, sexualities, and experiences, and weâre committed to creating a safe and supportive space where guests can express their desires without judgement or discrimination. For those who feel caged by societal norms, we encourage you to unleash your inner animal at Menagerie.
Who are we?
We are a small collective of kinky queer locals who decided to create the kind of play party we would like to see happen regularly in Brighton.
Our mission is to:
- Provide a fun and safe space for people to openly explore their sexuality.
- Foster a community that embraces ethical non-monogamy
- Facilitate connections to help people explore and fulfill their sexual fantasies
- Create an environment that encourages people to connect with their inner desires and passions, feel their most attractive and beautiful selves, and meet like-minded people.
Who is Menagerie for?
People aged 21 years old or older.
People interested in:
- Connecting with others via alternative relationship structures (ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, etc.)
- Group play and group sex
- Exploring their desire and sexual boundaries
- Enacting specific sexual fantasies and kinks
While we welcome people of all gender and sexualities, we guarantee that at least 50% of participants are women and/or members of the LGBTQ+ community. This is achieved through our careful vetting and ticket-selling process (see details below). Our goal is to cultivate safer play spaces, acknowledging that some groups face greater barriers in traditional settings due to the pervasiveness of patriarchal norms. We are continually discussing how to enhance the inclusivity and openness of our events for all people. If you have any feedback or ideas on how to achieve this, please feel free to email us.
What happens at a Menagerie event?
The evening will kick off with activities and icebreaker games to help everyone start getting to know each other (everybody will be fully clothed at this point!). Weâll also make sure everyone understands the eventâs rules around enthusiastic consent and the house safeword.
Later in the evening the focus will shift towards dancing and sexual play â everyone will be encouraged to undress to whatever level theyâre comfortable with. No one is expected to participate in sexual play if they donât want to and the entire upstairs floor will be a play-free space for anyone needing social breaks or down time.
What is your safety policy?
We want the Menagerie to be a safe and consenting environment for all guests. No bad behaviour will be tolerated.
Please read our Rules and our Consent Guide before you apply for tickets.
What is your vetting process?
To help create a safer space we require that all guests attend with one or two people that they trust. Your companion doesnât have to be a partner - they could be a lover, a friend, or anyone who you know well. You also donât have to stick together during the whole event, but you and your companion(s) will be responsible for each otherâs behaviour while at The Menagerie. This way everyone arrives with someone they trust and everyone attending is vouched for by at least one other person.
All guests will also be vetted by one of the event organisers beforehand via a short phone call. The phone call is not an interview and we donât care about how cool or interesting you are â what weâre interested in is whether the Menagerie is a good fit for you. This helps to ensure a comfortable and welcoming experience for all guests.
How does the ticket application process work?
Tickets are sold individually. When you buy your ticket, you will indicate who you are attending the event with. Remember, you cannot attend a Menagerie play party alone, you must attend with one or two companion(s). At least one person within your couple / throuple must be a woman and/or a member of the LGBTQ+ community. By âwomanâ we mean anyone who self identifies as a woman. By LGBTQ+ community, we mean anyone who self-identifies as lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, non-binary / outside of the gender binary, or queer.
Each individual applies for a ticket by filling out our online form and scheduling a 15 minute vetting phone call. Once successfully vetted, we will send you a link where you can purchase your ticket. Upon purchasing your ticket, you will indicate who you will be attending the play party with. Remember, you must arrive with a companion- you will not be able to enter the event alone and we will be unable to offer a refund. Each person must complete their own vetting process and must purchase their own individual ticket.
How much does it cost?
- Ticket costs cover one person.
- Standard ticket: ÂŁ33.25
- Concession ticket: ÂŁ22.25
- Who can buy sliding scale tickets? If cost is a significant barrier for your attendance, we offer a limited number of sliding scale tickets for those facing undue financial burdens in accessing sex positive events. This might include individuals who are differently-abled, carers, or unemployed. Anyone can purchase these on the ticket website, as such, we kindly ask for discretion and consideration when choosing this ticket to ensure that those in genuine need have access to these limited tickets.
What should I wear and bring with me?
Dress in whatever makes you feel most sexy! We encourage people to use clothing as a form of self expression and playfulness. For example, one might come wearing a nice dress for the ice breaker games and then opt to dress down to lingerie for dancing and play, eventually choosing to take all clothes off as the night progresses. This is an example and we encourage you to wear however much makes you feel comfortable and sexy! Bring your favourite toys and kinkwear.
What is accessibility like at the venue?
There is currently no wheelchair access for our current venue but is something we are looking out for in future spaces
We will be having low lighting downstairs in the play space.
If you have any access needs or any questions about accessibility please let us know during the vetting call or by email â weâre happy to discuss how we can make sure the Menagerie is accessible for you.
How can I find out whatâs happening?
The best way to stay up to date with future release dates and changes is to apply to become a member by filling in our vetting form.
Too much of a commitment? contact us on whats app and get added to our annoucement channel where youâll be the first to find out future changes
