The Menagerie:
Play Parties and Socials for Open Minded Souls
The Menagerie is a private play party in Brighton dedicated to fostering an inclusive and judgement-free environment for all guests, with a particular focus on women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The concept is simple: bring together a carefully vetted group of sexually open and curious people to an elegant venue in central Brighton to connect both socially and sexually. The guest list is capped at 65 people.
The Menagerie prioritises connection, pleasure, and safety. It is not a sex club – it’s an intimate event for people who want to explore giving and receiving pleasure.
We’ve chosen the name Menagerie to represent a haven for unique and diverse individuals to connect with one another. We welcome and celebrate a wide range of kinks, sexualities, and experiences, and we’re committed to creating a safe and supportive space where guests can express their desires without judgement or discrimination. For those who feel caged by societal norms, we encourage you to unleash your inner animal at Menagerie.
Who are we?
We are a small collective of kinky queer locals who decided to create the kind of play party we would like to see happen regularly in Brighton.
Our mission is to:
- Provide a fun and safe space for people to openly explore their sexuality.
- Foster a community that embraces ethical non-monogamy
- Facilitate connections to help people explore and fulfill their sexual fantasies
- Create an environment that encourages people to connect with their inner desires and passions, feel their most attractive and beautiful selves, and meet like-minded people.
Who is Menagerie for?
People aged 21 years old or older.
People interested in:
- Connecting with others via alternative relationship structures (ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, etc.)
- Group play and group sex
- Exploring their desire and sexual boundaries
- Enacting specific sexual fantasies and kinks
While we welcome people of all gender and sexualities, we guarantee that at least 50% of participants at our play parties are women and/or members of the LGBTQ+ community. This is achieved through our careful vetting and ticket-selling process (see details below). Our goal is to cultivate safer play spaces, acknowledging that some groups face greater barriers in traditional settings due to the pervasiveness of patriarchal norms. We are continually discussing how to enhance the inclusivity and openness of our events for all people. If you have any feedback or ideas on how to achieve this, please feel free to email us.
What happens at a Menagerie Play Party?
The evening will kick off with activities and icebreaker games to help everyone start getting to know each other (everybody will be fully clothed at this point!). We’ll also make sure everyone understands the event’s rules around enthusiastic consent and the house safe word.
Later in the evening the focus will shift towards sexual play – everyone will be encouraged to undress to whatever level they’re comfortable with. No one is expected to participate in sexual play if they don’t want to and there will be several play-free spaces for anyone needing social breaks or down time.
What happens at a Menagerie Social?
Menagerie Socials are casual, community-focused gatherings designed to help you connect with other lovely humans before our next play party. While there’s no play at these events, they’re a perfect chance to meet new faces, catch up with familiar ones, and let connections unfold naturally. These take place at private bars throughout Brighton & Hove, where you can mingle in a low-pressure environment with optional icebreakers to help spark conversation.
Some people attend socials simply to meet other kinky or ENM folks and never go on to attend a play party—and that’s totally welcome! Whether you’re new to Menagerie or a seasoned guest, the Social is a great way to ease in and expand your circle. Feel free to make your own post-social plans to keep the night going!
Our Safety Policy
Creating a safe, respectful, and consent-based environment is our top priority at The Menagerie. We have zero tolerance for harmful or inappropriate behaviour. Before applying for tickets, take a moment to read our Rules, Policies, and Consent Guide to ensure our values align.
Accessibility
Please note that the venues we currently use for both our socials and play parties have one set of stairs and are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. This is something we’re actively mindful of, and we are working toward securing more accessible venues for future events.
Additionally, we’ll have low lighting in the downstairs play space to create a comfortable atmosphere. Please be aware that at all of our events, it can get a bit noisy during mingling times, but we have outdoor spaces available if you need a quieter environment or a bit of fresh air.
If you have any specific access needs or questions about accessibility, please don’t hesitate to let us know during your vetting call or via email. We’re more than happy to discuss how we can accommodate you and ensure that Menagerie events are accessible to everyone.
